Jonkauff actually is kind of right (despite his rudeness). This is really samba/rumba part of capoeira. Capoeira was about preserving the slaves african culture and entertaining themselves. During the call & response theres times when the drummers "go wild" and the capoeiristas try to move their body w/ the beat. We do it in Nigeria, Congo, etc. To compare this to video hoes is just insulting. They focus purely on the sex. While to the original culture, its like a game we play.

Also, in the beginning, capoeira was an outlawed martial art, and when the cops showed up the badasses stopped fighting would start the samba. It lives in Africa because Africa is the source. It came with slaves of West Africa (Nigeria,Congo,Ghana,etc.) Alot of capoerista is yoruba, congolese influenced mixed w/ martial arts. A way to preserve the culture from their homeland and entertain themselves. Check out soukous/makossa. Its more modern african music w/ the same roots though (rumba). Samba just incorporates more of the "fast feet"

I completely agree with you. I do tkd for the sport since I compete and y school follows WTF so it's sport-oriented. I take MMA? which stands for Mixed Martial Arts and my instructor teaches me muay thai, brazilian jiu-jitsu and kyo-kushin karate which will help me in streets

Well it's better to tap into a lot of styles in my opinion but I'm doing TKD the most since I got a black belt in that. And TKD is useless if you're going against a grappler and you get tackled to the ground and TKD doesn't teach any ground work. You see what I mean?
